US astronaut Michael Collins, 90, has died. The British media confirmed this information on Wednesday quoting his family.

The world’s first manned satellite landed on the moon in 1969. Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon that day. Astronaut Neil Armstrong and his partner Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon in the NASA Apollo 11 spacecraft. Michael Collins was on that historic adventure. Although he did not walk on the ground of the moon.

Neil Armstrong died on August 25, 2012. Their partner Michael Collins passed away today. Buzz Aldrin (91) is still in the world after losing them.

Michael Collins was born on October 31, 1930. He is a former American astronaut, experimental pilot and retired Major General of the United States Reserve Air Force.

In 1963, he was selected as part of the Third Group of Fourteen Astronauts and went into space twice.

Meanwhile, the US space agency NASA has sent a condolence message on the death of Michael Collins.
