The Indian state of West Bengal has been rocked by post-election violence. Violence erupted in various parts of West Bengal overnight after the Trinamool Congress won a landslide victory in the Assembly polls on Sunday.
BJP leaders and activists are being subjected to post-election violence in different parts of the state. There have even been attacks on ISF leaders and cadres from the Left, the Congress and Abbas Siddiqui. Murder, beatings, bombings and vandalism are taking place in several areas of West Bengal.
Trinamool has been accused of beating a BJP activist to death in the Shitlatala area of Kankurgachhi near Kolkata after the results of the polls were released on Sunday. The name of the deceased BJP worker is Abhijit Sarkar.
The family of the deceased claimed that Abhijit was beaten to death in front of the police shortly after the results of the polls were declared in West Bengal.
Police later rescued him and took him to hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The late Abhijit Sarkar was the leader of the BJP’s trade union. Trinamool activists have alleged that Abhijit was beaten to death by his brother Biswajit Sarkar.
