The US government has asked its citizens to leave India as soon as possible due to India’s growing Covid-19 crisis.
The U.S. State Department on Wednesday issued the highest travel warning for U.S. citizens to “not travel to India or leave the country as soon as possible,” according to international media reports.
According to the US State Department, there are 14 direct flights between India and the United States daily, as well as some other services via Europe.
Authorities and hospitals in India are struggling to cope with record coronavirus infections and deaths.
Reuters and The Hindustan Times reported that a record number of daily attacks were set in India on Thursday. According to the Indian Ministry of Health, the number of new corona patients in the country has reached 3,79,257 in 24 hours. So far, the total number of people affected by corona in India has stood at one crore 83 lakh 76 thousand 524 people.
In addition, 3,645 people died in Corona in India in 24 hours, the highest number of deaths per day.
Earlier this week, Australia banned all flights from India. The United Kingdom has banned anyone from entering India for the past 10 days. British and Irish nationals returning to England from India are forced to stay in hotel quarantine.
