At least 15 people have been killed in a horrific metro train crash in Mexico. According to the New York Times, 70 more people were injured in the tragic accident.
The accident happened on Monday (May 3) at around 11 pm local time when the bridge of Metrorail along with the train collapsed just south of the country’s capital Mexico City. Another nearby train derailed and hit Olives station after the Metrorail bridge with the train collapsed.
Meanwhile, the news agency Reuters reported that a video of the accident was broadcast on the Mexican media channel Milenio Televisión. There, 12 lines of the metro were seen breaking along with the train and falling on the roads and vehicles below. Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo said 15 people were killed in the crash and a car was still stuck under the wreckage.
Meanwhile, the video spread on social media shows the medical crew and fire service personnel are working to rescue the survivors from the scene immediately after the accident. Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo said a committee has been set up to investigate the cause of the crash.
