Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have canceled all election rallies in West Bengal after the Election Commission of India (ECI) imposed a ban on the novel coronavirus.
In a tweet, Mamata said, “We will reach out to virtual people. The schedule of the virtual meeting will be announced soon.
After receiving a threat in the Calcutta High Court, the West Bengal administration was reluctant to deal with Corona. In that case, all the road shows and processions that were allowed earlier have been canceled. All road shows and walks have been banned from 6 pm today. Bike and bicycle parades have also been banned. From now on only public meetings can be held with a maximum of 500 people. But that is also conditional.
Meanwhile, the corona graph is increasing in West Bengal. In the last 24 hours, about 12,000 people have been affected by corona in the state. As a result, if Corona is not stopped now, Corona may take a terrible shape in the future. And, keeping that in mind, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken the final decision to stop the campaign.
Earlier, Mamata Banerjee had announced not to hold any big meeting in Kolkata. He even spoke for only 15 minutes in meetings outside Calcutta. However, Mamata Banerjee decided to cancel all public meetings this time due to the spread of coronavirus in the state. The doctors have applauded Mamata Banerjee’s decision.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also canceled all meetings in West Bengal due to the Corona situation. However, he will give a virtual speech.
It is learned that Modi had meetings in Kolkata, Surrey, Malda and Murshidabad. But, for Corona, that meeting will be made virtual.
Meanwhile, a record number of infections occurred in West Bengal on Thursday. According to the report of the state health department, 11,946 people have been infected with corona in the last 24 hours. 57 people have died. A total of seven lakh 904 people were affected in West Bengal. Of which, the number of active corona patients is 6,797. In the last 24 hours, 6,590 people have recovered from Corona in the state. As a result, six lakh 21 thousand 340 people became tax free in West Bengal. The recovery rate is 7.75 percent. In such a situation, Mamata and Modi decided to stop all election campaigns in the state.
