Adar Poonawalla, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Seram Institute of India, has been receiving phone threats from various influential quarters to get the Novel Coronavirus vaccine.
Chief ministers of various Indian states, influential businessmen and others are pushing for the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine on an urgent basis.
Adar Poonawalla made the allegations in an interview with The Times, a UK-based news outlet. A report in the Times of India has highlighted this.
Referring to the phone call, Adar Poonawalla said in the interview, “Threats are less said. Their demands and aggressive statements are shocking. Everyone thinks they should get vaccinated. They do not want others to be vaccinated.
Covishield, produced by the Serum Institute, is one of the two most commonly used vaccines in India.
Regarding phone calls, the CEO of Seram Institute added, “They say, if you don’t vaccinate, the results will not be good. They did not use bad language, but they did.
They wanted to explain what they could do if they didn’t listen. Such threats are coming and not allowing them to do any work until their demands are met.
