Relatives of five patients infected with coronavirus have died in an oxygen crisis at a hospital in the Indian state of Haryana.

Protests broke out outside the Hisar district hospital after the deaths of the patients on Monday morning, Indian media NDTV reported. Police were deployed in front of the hospital to bring the situation under control.

In the last 24 hours, three such incidents have taken place in the state, according to media reports.

Earlier on Sunday, four patients died at a private hospital in Gurugram and another at another hospital in Rewari. In both cases, there were reports of patients dying due to the oxygen crisis. The district administration has started investigation into the two incidents.

More than three lakh coronavirus patients have been identified in India for five consecutive days. In the 24 hours before Monday morning, the country set a world record of identifying more than 350,000 new patients. The country’s health system is on the verge of collapsing due to patient pressure.

The country’s hospitals have experienced a shortage of beds as well as severe oxygen shortages. The number of deaths of Covid-19 patients due to lack of oxygen is increasing.

Hospitals in the capital Delhi are also sending one emergency message after another asking for oxygen. Twenty-five patients died at a Delhi hospital on Friday due to low oxygen pressure.
