Canada has suspended all passenger flights from India and Pakistan for 30 days. Canada announced the ban on Thursday as part of a crackdown on coronavirus infections.
The ban will be in effect from 11:30 pm on Friday. However, cargo flights will not be covered. News Times of India and The Dawn.
More than three lakh people were infected with coronavirus in India last Thursday, the highest number of one-day detections in the world.
Shortly afterwards, the Canadian Minister of Health announced at a press conference that all passenger flights from India and Pakistan would be suspended for 30 days.
Meanwhile, Canadian Transport Minister Omar Alghabra said the Canadian government would not hesitate to cancel flights to other countries if necessary.
India has already been listed as a red list by the UK. A 10-day quarantine has been introduced in France for travelers from Brazil, Chile, Argentina, South Africa and India.
